Anyone got remarked papers from Nonsuch?
We did (no change), but interestingly in the email they provide both raw and standardized scores, and their calculations look really weird.
Do the conversions from raw to standardized look questionable to anyone else as well?

May one ask, in what way 'weird'?sad2k wrote:We did (no change), but interestingly in the email they provide both raw and standardized scores, and their calculations look really weird.

raw math 25 -> std math 123 (x4.92)
raw english 33 -> std english 66 (x2.0)
if the original scale was the same for english and math, I can't think of a reason for such a different standardization.

CANDIDATE NAME’S RAW MARK
CANDIDATE NAME’S RAW MARK FOLLOWING REVIEW
and the second one with standardized scores:
Lowest standardised score to be deemed to be of selective eligibility
Candidate’s standardised score
is yours different?

But
How did you work out this/ where did you get the below
Raw maths 25->std math 123 (×4.92)
Raw english 33->std english 66 (×2.0)
If you know or if you could ask your DD how many marks for each paper
Then I could work out how they standardise the each paper.
If you look at the Berkshire section there is a table and formula given on the very first thread
Re: Anyone got remarked papers from Nonsuch?
if you have the same email then you have both raw and std cores. So say for maths its 25 pre standardization, 123 post. For english its 33 and 66. The multipliers just highlight the difference between two papers - I'm not suggestnig this is how they standardizecuriousappa wrote: Yes we have the same email

What are your standardised scores?
Re: Anyone got remarked papers from Nonsuch?
Yes, we got ours remarked but got the same result back. My concern is that they have reviewed the papers by a second person but i was hoping a full remark which would indicate whether there was an error in the marking. The chances of us all having the exact same scores suggests that a second person as only validated the first marker and generally wouldn't overrule!
i got similar mail to the above where it gives a raw mark and a standardised but cant actually work out how they got this calculation.
I am totally lost with the raw and standardisation marks.

Re: Anyone got remarked papers from Nonsuch?
You need rather more information than just the raw score and the corresponding standardised score for one or two people to work through the calculations. Is there no further explanation - are the papers differently weighted? In the normal course of events, i.e. with a standardised score of 100 representing the mean raw score, a standardised score of 123 is more than 1.5 standard deviations above the mean (so pretty good), but 66 is right at the bottom end of the scale (a standardised score of 85 would indicate that only 16% of candidates got a lower score, so 66 would be well down at the lower end of those 16%), which doesn't seem terribly likely with the associated maths score.bigmomma wrote:Yes, we got ours remarked but got the same result back. Re: Anyone got remarked papers from Nonsuch?
we also got the same raw marks after the review.
Our DD is weak in English and strong in Maths.
Whereas there is a considerable difference in English and maths score (17 in favour of English).
My DD is confused and upset. She scored almost full scores in Maths in Kent and Medway; also in other exams considerably high marks in Maths.
Not sure what happened here. She missed 2 questions (including sub sets - 4) but she was fairly confident that the rest will be all correct.
