I remember when I was at school we did a lot of unstructured story writing. We could let our imaginations go wild. There seems to be very very little of this nowadays. DD1 did not enjoy writing stories at primary because she said they were always told what to write about and what had to be included.This wasn't so much of a problem for her as at home she wrote stories all the time, and really developed her skills. DD2 however did not spend time writing at home and I feel would have benefited from more unstructured writing at school.
