David Bowie

Post by kenyancowgirl »

Due to an accident on the motorway delaying the school bus, I took a run in with 6 boys this morning was we all listened to the news about David Bowie passing on. Amazing how someone at 69, transcended all ages - the boys handed from Y8 to Y13 and yet we were all singing along to the tracks.

From making the younger kids sing Space Oddity on the double decker from infant school in Epping to the pool in Loughton (no radio on a bus back then), to my first album purchases thanks to a friend's lovely Dad being able to get them in London, right through to listening to Black Star over the weekend David Bowie has been part of my life for 40 years. I saw him live a number of times in a number of venues and he was always brilliant.
Very sad today - he was my MainMan

I was hoping there would be a thread about Bowie. What a legend. I have some (not all) of his albums and they are brilliant. You simply cannot better the opening riff of 'Rebel Rebel' can you? Great lyricist as well, he wrote about culture and art and philosophical matters as well as S & D & RnR. Rest in Peace Major Tom :(
