Re: Shakespeare plays
Not least because the KES Stratford Sports PTA will be undertaking one of its' most ambitious fundraising projects to date, on April 23rd, (Shakespeare Parade Date, tying in with the 400 year celebrations), raising funds for the school's two charities, WaterAid and Air Ambulance, as well as sport at the school....watch this space...!!
Re: Shakespeare plays
Oh yes, please, KCG, do uptdate us with all the events at Stratford on this thread when you know about them! (not just KES Stratford please, but the whole town ).
I have been told that -during the nice season- we can watch some Shakespeare plays for free in front of a church somewhere (Saturday or Sunday afternoon?). Please, do you know the postcode of this place?

Re: Shakespeare plays
Try Googling Trinity Church...local Thespians rock up there from spring onwards to entertain tourists....

Shakespeare celebrations 2016
I've just been sent information about this:
http://shakespeareoxford2016.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Thought I'd start a thread to collect similar events across the country.

Re: Shakespeare celebrations 2016
Alongside some amazing things going on in Stratford (on and around the 23rd April) - including the usual birthday parade, lead by the students from KES and including celebrities and dignitaries from all over the world, and the opening to the public of the Guildhall/Shakespeare's Schoolroom:
The Shakespeare Shuttle - from schoolroom to Globe
On 23 April 2016, students from Shakespeare's school (KES Stratford) will be cycling, rowing and running from Shakespeare’s schoolroom in Stratford, to the Globe Theatre in London.
A baton, (the Headmaster’s quill sealed in an acrylic tube), will be taken by a team of cyclists to Marlow from where the rowing squad will follow the river to Windsor. Runners will then relay the baton to Shakespeare’s Globe. The final leg will be run by the sports captains from school (rugby, netball, fencing, rowing, hockey, triathlon), who will run along the Embankment to the Globe.
The aim is twofold: firstly to celebrate sport at the school by involving its students in a feat that will push them to perform at a high level in order to succeed. Secondly, to raise money for the school’s nominated charities (Water Aid and the Warwickshire Air Ambulance) and for sports provision at the school. The boys and girls at the school are immensely proud to be tracing Shakespeare’s footsteps from his schoolroom to The Globe.

Ooh, sounds like a great idea! Will all boys get a go? Or just teams?
