Recommendation for family film involving divorce
Any suggestions for a good family film ( age 10 upwards) involving divorce and especially where children refuse to see one parent due to deliberate or accidental alienation by the resident parent?

I can't remember the specifics, but Kramer vs Kramer might suit?

I'm afraid I can't think of any film, but I wonder whether one of the organisations that specialise in helping children/families deal with divorce would be able to suggest something? I googled 'explain to children how to deal with divorce' and quite a few links came up, so maybe you will find something there?mystery wrote:Any suggestions for a good family film ( age 10 upwards) involving divorce and especially where children refuse to see one parent due to deliberate or accidental alienation by the resident parent?
It felt like I hit rock bottom; suddenly, there was knocking from beneath... (anon.)

I can only think of Kramer Vs Kramer too but again saw it years ago so can't remember the detail.

Mrs Doubtfire, but here is a link with other films and books for both parents and children.

The parent trap (1998) is a good movie involving two twins being brought up by different parents across the Atlantic Ocean without knowledge of the other.A feel good movie.

I think Kramer v Kramer might not be suitable for children. It's pretty traumatic and the emotional instability of the mother is quite disturbing for a 10 year old?
Spolier alert....
In Parent Trap the parents get back together so maybe this might raise unrealistic hopes for a child in a similar situation?
