12 plus appeal for Oversubscription
I am wondering if anybody has any previous experience of my situation or able to give me some advice.
My daughter sat the 12+ test for DCHS and passed. She is on a waiting list for Sept 2016 entry to Year 8 as there are no spaces available. We live in the catchment area. I have kindly had feedback from Guest55 (initially posted on Bucks 12+ forum) that I can make an appeal.
If I appeal will this compromise her position on the waiting list ?
Have any of you been in a similar situation and been successful in securing a place in Year 8 ?
Where could I find the statistics that tell me whether the school has gone over PAN in previous years ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks.

Appealing should not compromise your place on the waiting list.
I'm not in Bucks so can't answer the rest.

Thank you Tinkers, that is very helpful.
Re: 12 plus appeal for Oversubscription
You can email the school and ask them quoting Freedom of Information. There is a template on the Appeals section.

Thank you very much Salsa, I will take a look at it.
Re: 12 plus appeal for Oversubscription
The last data I saw (Jan 2015) had most year groups at 148/9 and only one over 150.
Now they have taken 180 as 'temporary PAN' then they may robustly defend that.

Re: 12 plus appeal for Oversubscription
You will receive the current numbers on roll in your Appeal Pack.
As the school admitted an additional class of 30 in both 2015 and 2016, the question you need to ask is whether they have considered doing so again for 2017. If so, there is hardly a strong case to be made against admitting your DD other than the marginal inconvenience of having +1 in a single class. The school's case for any "overcrowding" of the site certainly won't hold water.

Thank you for your most valuable feedback Guest55 and Sally-Anne, it gives me a lot of hope.
The school handles it's own appeals and I have sent an email to the clerk for an appeal pack.
Thanks again.

Re: 12 plus appeal for Oversubscription
The appeal pack is issued to all parties a week or so before the appeal hearing. It may not yet have been prepared, so if you get a negative response, just ask for the current numbers on roll and the school's previous O/S case. It tends to be the same case every year for most schools unless there has been a significant change such as major building work.
