Unique Pupil Number(UPN)

Post by tgsmum16 »

Hi All

I just asked my DD's Primary School to provide me her UPN as as to fill in the Tiffin Girls' School's 'forms return' for the September 2016 starter. Her school replied -
we are unable to provide this information to parents. This system is used only between schools.Once a place has been confirmed, the new school will contact the previous school and we will then transfer all this information in the form of a CTF (Common Transfer File) which contains the UPN number.
Is this the same with all primary schools?
But we do have the provision to complete the form without UPN if we don't have.
Thanks

Different area, but we have had three DC move on to secondary school without needing to put their UPN on anything. Perhaps the school should mark that bit 'office use only'?

Our primary school provided this identifier without any fuss.

Thank you drvs, tiffinboys and oberoijasleen.
I think my DD's school is 'special', I am also sending the form without it.

We had to ask our Primary for it, one secretary said they would be released towards end of year 6, tried at a different time and they just gave it us. It seemed to me that the initial refusal was just laziness to go and look it up.

One day I must check if it was on the computerised end of year 5 report, if so could have saved ourselves hassle getting it.
