English
We have been doing a lot of mock exams it seems like the English paper (called verbal reasoning) is made up of:
1) Comprehension
2) antonyms
3) synonyms
4) cloze
5) shuffle sentences
6) homonyms
Is this right?
We are stuck on vocabulary any ideas?

Re: English
I will include one more :
Odd one Out
Vocabulary has been a struggle for us too. But my daughter likes to talk about words when encountered and then dictionary to look at synonyms and antonyms. Usually we try to make sentences around the word when encountered which relates to our everyday lives. It has worked for her immensely.
But yet we struggle to include these words in our creative writing. I guess it is "work in progress"

Yes, reading and conversations. Use a good variety of language yourself every day. Ban banal words if you need to, words like 'nice' or 'feel' and make them think about alternatives. Crosswords, apps like Wordbrain etc might also be other avenues to explore.
If doing indie tests you may need to think of other things like current affairs and confidence in explaining oneself. We found The Week Junior for example interesting and fun.
