Travel to Tiffin Girls from Ealing

Post by to_smita »

Hi,

My girl has got admission in Tiffin Girls & will be starting her school in Sept. 2016. We stay in Ealing Broadway. So wanted to know if

1. there are any year 7 mums living in the same area?
2. we can arrange some private transport for girls?
3. any hire bus/ cab service which serves the school & my area?

Bus 65 is longer route & the only option we have as of now. Appreciate any help.

Your girl will get used to bus 65 and it would be better to be independent if your dd is interested in any after school activities.

# "Ride the 65"

There's even a TGS song about it... but I forget the words

As there is a direct bus (except Aug, see below), unlikely to be any minibuses.
Be very wary of the shared minibuses (Vehicle Inspectorate has twice had to close down services on spot, leaving girls with no return transport, there are threads few months ago in this Surrey section on this)

For all new Year 7s, At the induction, or earlier, you will get a list of your class and their addresses. TGS deliberately fix the tutor groups so there is 2-4 girls from certain areas so they have obvious travel buddies. Many choose to arrange a meet-up or picnic sometime in summer so parents can meet others.

On Day 1 (Mon 5th Sept) many parents drop their children by car (PE kits, Art folder is additional to carry which normally stays in the locker). Only Years 7, 10 , 12 are in. Other year groups start Tuesday.

Remember to order a Zip bus pass on TfL website, allow 3 weeks (or upto 8 weeks if you wait to busy summer period)

The 65 is getting a new timetable with more buses, was due to take effect 2nd July (bus Operator contract renewal date), but might be after works in Petersham. Remember both 65 and 371 buses are subject to special timetables in Aug as A307 in Petersham is completely closed for 5 weeks due to gas main replacement. National Grid are showing a finish date of Sunday 4th Sept. With luck road will reopen on 5th and through buses restart the day your DD starts school.

Only those who agree to share their own details receive the details of others. It's extremely handy to have the list. I'd strongly encourage incoming families to take part too. The vast majority of families in the current year 7 participated.
