Exam centres

Post by ChilledDad »

Does anyone know the basis of allocation for a particular testing venue?

DC1 sat at Myton a few years ago (convenient and logical). DC2 had to sit at LS (inconvenient and illogical). We are in Leamington and in the Southern priority area, so why send us to Rugby? We didn't even know where LS is!

We are in Warwick and DS sat in Henley 3 years ago; this and last year's cohort from our primary sat at KES. The exams do seem to have been taken 'in-house' recently. Whether this is their choice or other schools' reluctance to host is up for debate ...

I suspect it is a combination of factors - they would prefer a small number of large venues as they are easier to manage (and keep the test details secure) - the number of large venues available on the day is limited - some schools already have contracts where their halls are hired out to dance schools etc - and, the "in-house" factor of sitting in a GS is a strong one. Certain primary schools tend to be linked traditionally with certain venues, where big numbers sit the tests (eg the Croft always seem to sit at KES).

I believe there may be some selection of which schools sit where by alphabetical order. KES have the very first part of the alphabet : A-C - All Saints Warwick and All Saints Leek Wootten etc through to Coten End and The Croft. Possiby with some exceptions given the numbers taking from each school in order to fill the venue.
