DGGS/Townley

Hi there!
I was hoping for any personal experience of DGGS. I am considering this school for my daughter.
I have the option of Townley or DGGS so trying to compare them.
Any advice/feedback would be highly appreciated!
Would 377 OOC score be enough? We would definitely get into Townley so wondering am I risking to put DGGS on my CAF if there is unrealistic chance of getting in? We live in Charlton (Greenwich)

No one is aware of the OOC cutoff for 2017 entry yet, so I can't comment on that, however you should put the school in preference other when completing your CAF. Putting DGGS as a higher preference will not impact on your Townley or other school options you chose, worst case scenario you may not be allocated DGGS but will get into Townley(if that's your second preference)

My daughter has just started at DGGS and loves it. She had a tough year 5/6 with friendship groups etc and she's started senior school with a new, positive attitude and it's going really well.
However, I am sure that there are an equal number of girls who are just as happy at Townley.

At the end of the day, go with what is right for your daughter and family. The equal preference system means that if you put DGGS and don't get it then you would still get Townley.

Thank you so much for your replies! My daughter is also a bit confused- she likes Townley because it has a wide curriculum- she wants to study latin/classical civilisation.
However she loves science so the specialisms of Dartford suit her better- she found Townley too arty for her.
We are both so confused!

Hi I have a year 8 dd at DGGS and she loves it...my second dd also just passed and I spoke to admissions and in County they took last year a score as low as 333...her words not mine...sorry I know it's not what you asked as you are OOC....may help others

Is there any distance restrictions for those who is OOC? We live in Welling, 4 miles away in straight line? Do we have a chance with a high score?

I am also in the same boat. If I put Townley as first preference then is it possible to stay in the waiting list for the DGGS? My DD really likes the DGGS and we are yet to visit Townley.

If you get your first preference the standard in most LAs is that they see you've got your highest preference so there is no going on a waiting list for preferences further down as they assume you got the highest preference. Check with the LA that you are with as to their procedure with waiting lists. I know Bromley for example you have to submit an additional preference form for schools not initially on your list that you then want to go on waiting list for. If you prefer DGGS then put that first and then put Townley. That way you can more easily go into the waiting list of a higher preference and you usually have a short window to turn it down if you want to stick with your initial allocation - but again check as some LAs automatically bump you up the list as places become available and you loose lower preference place. To me it sounds like you've misunderstood the equal preference system - put the schools in the order of which you want first, not in the order you think you might more easily get.
