THURROCK school bus service

Post by Danniburke »

Hi,
After my recent troubles with school bus services from my area, I just wondered if any current or any future pupils would be interested in a bus service from the Thurrock area to Westcliff and Southend schools. We live in South Ockendon, and currently don't have an option from Ockendon. We are now going to be using a service from Brentwood but would've been much better having a more local service.

I know Amber coaches currently run a service from Chafford area which isn't too far from us, but they do a lot of stops on the way meaning a very early start for my daughter.

If anyone would be interested in joining a service I will get the information, I understand for this school year it is probably too late but if I could get an idea of the amount of interest we have I can then look at costs etc..

Thanks.
If you inbox me I will give email address and contact details.

Just bumping this post up. We have had a few responses and I know you can't commit until you know where you son or daughter has been offered a place in March but if anyone else would like information on a service we are thinking of running then please let me know.

Thanks

Surely there are easier places to go to school from here?

I thought Benfleet to Westcliff/Southen was too far!

It's not a bad journey at all actually. And no, for my daughter there were no good options more locally.

I was brought up in Essex and still visit - its too far and, I'm sorry I don't agree that there aren't nearer good schools.

What do you do when there are after-school commitmemts?

I bet the parents wouldn't even contemplate this commute for work so why send an 11 year old on it?

Actually, thousands of people commute forty-odd miles for work in London from our neck of the woods and a reasonable number commute the other way into Basildon and Southend. To be fair to c2c, it is generally very reliable, we have nice, clean, comfortable and frequent trains - less frequent on the 'loops', admittedly (but much better than the Southend Vic line; funny to think that their current rolling stock was considered upmarket back when we still had 'slam-doors' ) - and I have to say that my forty seven minutes into Fenchurch Street with the Times Mind Games section for company was generally the best part of my day when I worked in London :) .

Yes but we are talking about using the roads - the A13 isn't my idea of fun in the morning nor is the A127.

I remember the Fenchurch Street line with some affection and can remember the station at the 'new town' of Basildon being built.

Yes I was referring to the roads.
