My son passed his 11 plus but was offered a school 22 miles out of area, although still a grammar, we are not accepting this place!!. We have the full backing of his primary school in appeal for a place at MGS, our first choice on our CAF and have gone onto their waiting list as well. Has anyone experience of getting into MGS on appeal and any tips on the best way to appeal. Thank you.
Sorry no practical advice but advise from forum seems to be accept place offered but appeal as well for preferred choice, the reason being if appeal fails at least you have a school!
Thank you for quick reply, my problem being that the grammar he has been offered he cannot get to as he would need to be up at 5.30am in the morning so no point accepting, how can they call this a offer!. Will have to wait and see what appeal and waiting list brings.
appeals need to be why you need a place at your preferred aschool , rather tahn why you don;t want teh offerred school, so maybe stress the positives rather than the negatives.
have a look at the appeals section, it is really comprehensive and you will get loads of help.
