hello
Hello everyone - this is my first post and I can't believe I didn't find this forum before my son took the 11+. We had it confirmed yesterday that he has been allocated a place at Colyton Grammar so we are over the moon. Are there any other parents on here whose child is due to start in September?
We have been looking at houses around the Colyton area the last few days and were pleasantly surprised at the prices - significantly lower than Exmouth and the surrounding towns.
We have decided to move closer to the school at some point in the future so our son will not have to commute so far for the next 7 years. We've always liked the area around that part of Devon and now we have an excuse to relocate there.

Renting is a good idea initially and something we are also considering. There was only one other child who qualified from my son's school and he is in the other form class - so they don't tend to have the same circle of friends or socialise with one another. Does your son know anyone down this part of the country that is going to Colyton?
No, not at all! The school were very reassuring and said that lots of children find themselves in this situation and they do lots in the first few weeks to help the kids to settle in and make new friends quickly, so hopefully it won't be too much of an issue. I think the biggest change will be possibly not having 'local' friends to meet up with after school, weekends etc., but even more motivation for us to join some out-of-school clubs I suppose!
