Key Stage 2 Scoring

Post by watdad »

I need some help in understanding the Key Stage 2 Scoring in order to assist in my sons appeal, please help.

I understand at the during year 3 they do a KS1 test expected levels are 3 ??

As they then progress and through the years 4,5,6 they sit assessment papers and ultimately KS2 test in year 6 where they are expected to achieve a grade 4

Is it as simple as end of yr 3=3c, yr4=3b, yr5=3a, yr6=4 or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Also does anybody know of a good website that explains this, all I can find explain the curriculum but not the scoring system......?

Are then any websites which also give national averages etc at the end of each year?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance

KS1 expected is 2b

For GS I would expect mainly level 3s

Expected progress in KS2 is two levels so

average child Y2 = 2b, Y4 = 3b, Y6 = 4b

GS potential pupil Y2 = 3, Y4 = 4, Y6 = 5 roughly

You can look at the QCA website - I used their statistics in my appeal -

There are no optional science tests in Y3, Y4 or Y5 - the papers don't change every year so this is possibly why 2006 is not there. If you look the poercentages don't change much -
