hi all,
can somebody help me with this strange question.

#it goes like this.

this sum is correct. how many tips are there in a top.

top tip
8 4
+ 3 7

12 2

I think the answer is ...

i.e. what base is the number system for one carry and a remainder of 2.

It would seem to be a bsae question, but 9 does not seem to fit. It would need to be +27, because 1 has already been carried over.
