Last year in the letter from Tommies it gave us instructions for what to do if DS was ill on the test day and the date that the test would be taken if this was the case-hopefully you should have the same this year!

Contact the school as soon as possible. If your child becomes ill on the day, get a message there, and postpone.

There are often children who take it late - and (for instance) those who take it on days other than a Saturday for religious reasons (one of DD's friends this year).

If the child becomes ill during the exam, or very, very soon thereafter (as in didn't perform as well as they might have because they were going down with bubonic plague), get them to a doctor / hospital / isolation unit as soon as humanly possibly, and get a note or certificate. It can be used as evidence in an appeal.

Note that being nervous doesn't count for much, as 99.9% of the children are to some degree or other.

If they were unwell during the exam, you may well be surprised to find out that they pass anyway - it doesn't affect them that much (and adrenalin cuts in as well).
