What do we do if our child is ill?

Contact the school as soon as possible. If your child becomes ill on the day, get a message there, and postpone.
There are often children who take it late - and (for instance) those who take it on days other than a Saturday for religious reasons (one of DD's friends this year).
If the child becomes ill during the exam, or very, very soon thereafter (as in didn't perform as well as they might have because they were going down with bubonic plague), get them to a doctor / hospital / isolation unit as soon as humanly possibly, and get a note or certificate. It can be used as evidence in an appeal.
Note that being nervous doesn't count for much, as 99.9% of the children are to some degree or other.
If they were unwell during the exam, you may well be surprised to find out that they pass anyway - it doesn't affect them that much (and adrenalin cuts in as well).
