IPS VR method and technique query
Hi could anyone assist on a type z that my dd is doing. Its question 38 in the book aboive:
D is twice as old as S will be next year. I is 8. S is 3 years older than I was last year.
Using this info answer the following question. How many years old is D?
Answers given are
15
12
18
14
16.
My dd thinks 22 and I cannot see why its wrong (answer is 14).
Can anyone tell my why 14.

It looks to me as a wrong question unless there is a tricky twist somewhere.
I don't have this IPS paper with me but I have a sample IPS paper downloaded from their site a while ago and found a similar question, as below:
Matthew is half as old as Zena will be next year. Simone is 6. Zena is two
years older than Simone was last year.
Using this information answer the following question.
How many years old is Matthew?
I got the answer to this question as 4 and that is the correct answer. In that respect I would have thought the one you posted might have got the wrong answer in their book.
