My son and about 450 other boys took the Hampton 11+ today, and found the maths quite tough (didn't finish, got sidetracked by complicated question that he couldn't answer in the end anyway). Unusually, for him, he thought the English OK and even managed to leave 10 minutes early for a loo break. I'm thinking no chance of an interview. Ah well.
My son found the maths paper fine (it's his strongest subject by far) , the verbal reasoning OK, essay OK but comprehension a bit tougher. We'll just have to see if he gets invited for an interview....
My son found the Maths paper quite tough too which is also unusual. He is a very competent mathematician and has always achieved very high scores in tests at school. He thought the reasoning paper was quite easy and the English papers OK (but english is his weak point anyway).
Dearcoty - so sorry..... do you have others in the pipeline? Did they explicitly say no interview, or have you just not received the letter? Do they necessarily interview everyone offered a place?
Thanks for your support, Thea: unfortunately the letter said explicitly no interview, no place. There are a few others that are still possible but no brilliant back up plan so far...
