Help! Appeal tomorrow - missing documents!

Post by Glynmac »

I am attending our appeal tomorrow and have just this minute sat down and looked through the papers sent back to me from County. Luckily I made a list of all the academic evidence I submitted with my appeal which is how I know that not all of it has been copied! Missing are 3 x KS2 SATs test papers, a teacher Literacy assessment document (plus 2 pieces of DS's assessed work) and a certificate from DS's participation in a county-wide maths challenge. Does this actually mean that some of my paperwork has gone astray? Or will the panel definitely have copies of everything I sent in?

Please advise me if you can!

Many thanks,

Very Worried Mum

They have probably not copied the work because it will be looked at after the appeal not during it.

You could phone and check in the morning ..

The BCC appeals booklet (issued to all appellants) states:
How do I provide you with my evidence?

IAP members like to read evidence about a child well in advance of the
hearing and we send everything we have been provided with in relation
to your child (excluding school work, certificates and tests undertaken
at school) to the IAP, clerk, Local Authority representative and yourself
seven working days before the hearing. .......

School work loses its authenticity when it is photocopied and the hard
work that your child has put into the work displayed can be lost on black
and white copies. It is for this reason that we do not send schoolwork or
tests to be photocopied for circulation prior to the hearing. Originals of
schoolwork will be considered by the IAP at the end of the hearing once
you and the Local Authority representative have left the room and will
be returned to you by the clerk following the hearing and before you
leave the building.

Hi
I had my appeal today and received everything I submitted originally back at the end of the appeal hearing.
Not all the evidence I put forward at the beginning was included in the case papers but the panel did have a copy of them when we arrived.
Not sure if this is any comfort but it may be the same thing has happened with yourselves and find they have the copies at the meeting. Hope this is the case.

Good luck, and my advise, know your evidence inside and out as they may ask you something you hadn't thought about.

Justine :)
