Appeal meeting today: some strange questions!

Post by Funky mum »

Had my meeting today.
After waiting for more than an hour it finally started...
Panel were very friendly even without shaking hands- too awkward with the table so big.
There was some defensive body language which concerned me but it was relaxed after a while.( panel member not me!)

Lots of relevant questions pertaining to the case but also:
Does your child have a sibling and how old is he/she?
What does your child do when she's naughty?
What was she like when she was a toddler?
Nothing about what she reads but then I had supplied a reading list with the initial documents.

I too had ''missing docs'' in the copied pack sent to me but then realised these were the copies of school work anyway. Nothing to worry about and all were returned at the end of the meeting.

Fingers- and everything else crossed now for the outcome....
Just want to thank Sally Anne and Etienne for all the support and sound advice all of which was taken aboard and used in some way.

Thank you all and I'll let you know the outcome next week......

( 119 score, SAT s predicted at all 3 5'ves, HT rec2/1 but then it's OXON so there are NO 1/1 recommendations as they don't approve of any of this.No ranking, No predictions and no familiarisation in class, all done from home.),Mild dyslexia and a top student in her year.

PS Finally : I too keep going over it: did I say enough, why did I leave this/that out in the end and why didn't I say this instead of that in the answers....urggggh it's worse than sitting exams!
So many different thoughts come into your head AFTER the meeting!
This is normal, no???

Thank you, Funky mum. :D

One or two of those questions look distinctly odd!

Not to worry - it's unlikely they affected the decision.

It would be grounds for a complaint if the answers to irrelevant questions were taken into account.

There was a famous case in Lincolnshire a couple of years ago. If anyone is interested, see:

Good luck!
