Any tips on what NLCS in Edgware are looking for when they interview at the 11+ stage. My daughter has got through the exam and has now been asked to attend an interview. Do they also make an assesment of th eparenst when they visit???????

Admission at 11 plus (approximately 60 places)
Entry to the Senior School is at age 11, therefore candidates for entry in September 2006 must have dates of birth between 1st September 1994 and 31st August 1995; candidates for entry in September 2007 between 1st September 1995 and 31st August 1996. Applications are registered between June and mid-November. The closing date is 15th November.
The Entrance Examination
The School is a member of the London Girls' Schools' Consortium. The entrance examination will be held on Friday 13th January 2006. Candidates will sit two written papers (one in English and one in Mathematics), and on the basis of the results of these papers selected candidates will be invited for interview.
English Paper
The English Paper is based on the format of the National Curriculum Key Stage 2 paper. Candidates are asked to read a passage and answer questions on it. Also, they are asked to write on a topic. They will need to show that they can understand and think about what they read and will be expected to make an intelligent attempt to answer anything on the paper that is unfamiliar. They should be able to present their ideas in a coherent manner with accurate grammar, punctuation and spelling.
Mathematics Paper
The content of the papers will broadly follow the National Curriculum up to Level 4. There will be a variety of questions, testing basic numerical skills, problem solving and logical thinking. Candidates may also be required to demonstrate more developed powers of reasoning and the ability to solve simple problems with a newly introduced concept.
The use of calculators in the entrance examination is not permitted.
Sample questions are available from any school in either Group 1 or Group 2 upon request. Please note that there is just one version of this sample material.
On the basis of these written papers, selected candidates are called for interview.

Does anybody know by getting a call for the interview implies how much chance of getting into it?
Also, what's the criteria for scholarships?
Is it a very academic school ? Is it good for not so academic but all rounder kind of girls?

I think it is well rounded.
The girls do some form of physical activity 4 days of the week. The homework in year 7 is not too much. There is also a good background mix.
I do not know what the chances of getting in are after the interview. However independent schools would always offer more places than they have capacity for because most people would have sat 3 to 4 exams, so will be turning some offers down.

Out of 600 girls 120 had been called for interview this year and 100 will be selected. When we went for the interview we felt it was the dream school. The girls were very friendly and helpful and yes it's good for all round development.
