Hi

Can some please help me for this and explain why......

Kim and Lee each began reading Harry Potter on Saturday. Kim reads 9 pages each day and Lee reads 7.

(a) On What day of the week will Kim finish reading 56 pages?

(b) At the end of that day, what page will Lee be up to?

Waiting for your help.

Thanks

Here is my take ...

Kim reads 9 pages a day.
She'll read 54 pages in 6 days. She will finish the 56 pages on the 7th day.
If she starts reading on a Saturday, the 7th day should be the next Friday.

So she'll finish reading it on the Friday.

Lee reads 7 pages a day. At the end of Friday, he should be on page 49 i.e 7 pages * 7 days.

Very ambiguous question

part b) could be read two ways....

What page will Lee be up to?

Lee will be up to page 49 (last page read)

If Lee has read 49 pages then he will be up to 'page 50' (next page to read)

Part a)

Although I would say your answer is correct....

I suppose we are not told when on Saturday they started reading...so...if a day equals 24 hrs.........

sat - Sun - 9 pages read
Sun-Mon - 9 read
Mon- Tues - 9 read ......etc

So wouldn't get on to pages 55-63 until Fri-Sat

So you couldnt def say Fri !!!!!!! Maybe..... :?
