A Strategy for Reading Novels

Here is an example of taking notes when reading a novel. If the novel has many characters and new terms, you can keep a list so you can remember who is who and what is what!

This information has been compiled in a way that will not spoil reading the Harry Potter books for the first time!

Quidditch A game played on flying brooms
  There are three 50 feet tall golden poles at each end of the field. There are hoops on the tops.
  You score by throwing the Quaffle through the hoops.
  There are seven players on each team.
  3 Chasers The Chasers throw the Quaffle and put it through the hoops to score 10 points.
  2 Beaters The Beaters keep the bludgers away from their team with small bats.
  1 Seeker Goes after the Golden Snitch.
  1 Keeper Guards the goalposts.
  There are four balls.
  2 Bludgers Bludgers are jet black balls, slightly smaller than the quaffle that fly around and try to knock players off their broomsticks.
  Golden Snitch The Snitch is  small and gold with silver wings. It is hard to see and hard to catch.
  Quaffle The Quaffle is bright red and about the size of a soccer ball.
