Trafford 11 Plus
The New Schools Admissions Code, by law from 2012 , due to take effect for admissions for Entry in September 2013, states that schools must take all reasonable steps to inform parents of the outcome of tests before the closing deadline for applications on October 31st 2012.
The Trafford 11+ no longer exists and each Grammar School in Trafford has its own entrance examination. If you wish your child to take part in these examinations, you must apply to the relevant school to take the tests, as well as submitting your CAF to your home authority.
Each school has different deadlines and the entrance tests also vary. It is essential that parents consult the Admissions section of each school’s website and note carefully the deadlines, dates and requirements for each school.

Altrincham Grammar School for Boys Admissions Information for September 2014 Entry

| Test types | The tests take place in this order: Non-Verbal Reasoning (2 × 10 mins),Verbal Reasoning (50 mins), Creative writing (20 mins), Maths (50 mins). All are multiple choice except creative writing. The maths content will be similar to KS2 . The creative writing will NOT count towards the final result. The creative writing exercise will test their ability to write accurately in a continuous form. This will be used as part of the internal review process if your child’s score is below 334 but within 13 marks of it(see below)but will not count towards the final result of the test. Time warnings are given in the Verbal Reasoning and Maths test half way through and 5 minutes before the end, a time warning is given half way through the creative writing but no time warnings are given in the Non-verbal reasoning test. |

| Test Scores | The qualifying score is 334. The candidates who score below but within 13 marks of the qualifying score will have their tests reviewed.
