They are the authors and publishers of The Ultimate Guide to Verbal Reasoning series by Dynamite Educational Publishers Limited. These Epapers provide valuable timed practice for students to become more confident with the styles of questions they may encounter plus enables them to ensure they can complete the examination in the given time.
The Tutors
Janet Peace and Mike Edwards are graduates of the University of Liverpool. They formed their business, The Tutors in 1995. Since then the demand for them to provide 11 plus tuition for entrance into Wirral Grammar schools has snowballed and they have become increasingly experienced and successful in preparing children for the tests. The Wirral Grammar entrance tests consist of two verbal reasoning papers of an NFER format. It is generally acknowledged that there is a shortage of papers that compliment directly the NFER content. Therefore this year Jan and Mike have started writing their own preparation papers. They are also multiple-choice and they have taken great care to ensure that their answer sheets will help children in preparing for the tests.
Learning Together
This series of Verbal Reasoning epapers has been designed exclusively for this Eleven Plus Exams website. The author is a very experienced Year 5 and Year 6 teacher with many years of preparing pupils for 11+ tests in Verbal Reasoning. Sales figures show that these epapers are being used extensively for 11 plus preparation throughout the country including Kent, Essex and Bucks. The epapers contain 80 questions and answers and have been developed using the type of question found in past 11+ papers. Working through these epapers will give pupils a distinct advantage when sitting their actual 11+ exam.
Tuition For You
Emmy Russel is a Kent based Mathematics teacher who is also a specialist Eleven Plus tutor. She attended a grammar school before graduating in Mathematics and Computer Science. She has designed her own test papers in Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and English based on past 11 plus papers and questions used by her own pupils. All the papers contain four authentic style 50 minute tests and come complete with answers. Verbal reasoning tests contain 80 questions per test, whilst the Mathematics and English contain 50 questions each. In Mathematics the answers include worked solutions and exam hints. The English papers are presented in four sections, a 25 question comprehension, a section on spelling, a section on grammar and a section on missing words.
Step By Step
The Kids Individual Development School was established in 1990 to write practice papers to support work for entrance to Grammar, Private and Independent schools mainly in the Essex and Kent area. The author has spent many years successfully tutoring pupils for 11+ and entrance examinations in Essex.
The E papers Step By Step are a set of educational papers used to enhance the learning of Years 5 and 6 pupils. Pupils in Essex have used the Verbal Reasoning and Mathematical Challenge Papers successfully for a number of years.
Eleven Plus Exams
Eleven Plus Exams have commissioned practice epapers from experienced professional tutors with significant experience in preparing children for the 11-plus examinations. These epapers, like Nfer-Nelson, are designed to be as close as possible to secondary selective examinations used by most of the UK Local Education Authorities, grammar schools and senior independent schools. They therefore provide valuable timed practice material to increase familiarity and speed for candidates.
MW Educational
The A Plus Series of Secondary School entrance practice papers have been produced by a qualified and experienced teacher (who is also a member of Mensa) especially for children who are expecting to take selective entrance examination to secondary school (be it independent, grammar or comprehensive) at age 11 plus. These practice papers are designed especially for the 10 and 11 year old children in year 6 of primary, junior or preparatory schools who expect to sit a secondary school entrance exam whilst they are in year 6. The practice papers are designed to give children a foretaste of the type of questions they may well face in these exams.
