Re: Advice please on improving letter code technique / speed

My DS didn't like these either! I tried to suggest a few ways to him but it never quite sunk in! He eventually informed me that he figured the code was always a nonsense word and the word itself was always a real word. So he knew that way whether he was trying to get to a nonsense word or a real wor...

Re: Son struggles with English

We were struggling with English this time last year too. Really strong Maths and VR but English not as good. Are you in a superselective area or do you just need a pass? We were the latter and also didn't need a pass in each individual subject (just one overall pass mark) which helped us a lot and y...

Re: How to improve marks on GL paper spelling section

Hi One of the main things which I think helped was knowing how the test / pass mark worked and for us it was the overall mark that mattered and there wasn't for example a pass mark for each of Maths, English, verbal reasoning etc. separately. So once I figured that out he felt better about it as kne...

Re: Practice papers

We were similar, having done CEM a few years back then changed to GL last year. No idea if this was a good strategy but I decided to use a few different ones to get used to different things as you don't know what could come up on the day of the test. Used combination of CGP, collins, schofield and s...

Re: BRGS reslults

I assume you'd need to ask the school if you were wanting to try and find out raw scores - I have no idea if they would share them but I have read elsewhere that schools don't do that usually?? Is there a particular reason you were wanting to know? I read somewhere all the Lancs grammars had their t...

Re: BRGS reslults

Yes scores all different this year, presumably due to new GL exam format so hard to benchmark! My understanding is that it's all standardised and so you can't translate it into a %. I don't think you could use it for CRGS either - my understanding is you have to sit the specific exam for that school...

Re: BRGS Results Wait

Ahh good luck! Yes having a single date would be amazing! A few years ago it was the Tuesday but no idea if it's same every year! School finishes for half term on Thursday so guessing it will be before then??

Re: Help with the Question please!

Probably won't explain this well but looks like you count back from end of alphabet with one and count same distance forward from start of the alphabet with the other.
