Re: Help selecting Uni vs degree apprenticeship offer

Hi- my son is currently doing the Civil service Economics degree apprenticeship and loves it. He started off doing Bsc Ec & Finance at Bristol but became disillusioned with lack of Face to face lectures, so applied for GES degree apprenticeship in his 2nd year. It's basically 4 days in the workp...

How are the DC's settling in?

Hi- After all the A'level drama this summer, how is everyone's DC's settling in at Uni? DS has moved to Manchester but is feeling pretty underwhelmed. He still hasn't got a timetable and it still seems up in the air whether the tutorials will be face to face or everything will be remote. At least he...

Re: AGSB exam 2019

Hope all goes well with the exams. DS1 is in his last year at AGSB and has been so happy at the school, he will be sad to leave next summer.
Good luck all.

Writing Skills

Hi All I just wondered if anyone had any tips on resources to help DS with his essay writing or answering paragraph style questions? DS1 is taking A'Level History, Geography and Politics, all of which are essay heavy subjects. His knowledge is very sound and he does a lot of reading round the subjec...

Re: Uni offers/rejections 2019

Some good news at last... DS has three offers for his Economics w/Politics and/or International Relations: Warwick, Nottingham and Loughborough. He'd love to go to Warwick so that's going to be his firm choice with Loughborough being the insurance option. They are all conditional so now just the sm...

Degree/ Higher Apprenticeships

Hi All, I just wondered what people's views are on degree apprenticeships? DC has had some information about them at school. They sound like a great idea, but I just wondered whether they will be on a par/ as respected as going through the traditional University route to get a degree? I'm a bit of a...

Re: Change of mind on Trafford Application

Hi, Ring Trafford school admissions on 0161-912-5007 and let them know the change of choice. You need to let them know as soon as possible and you should be able to change. It us when it gets too near the 1st March date that they can't. I found them to be really helpful.

Re: English lit remark - is 5 marks feasible?

Hi All, Daughter is still undecided about a remark for her AQA English lit. Any teachers here have any idea how feasible an extra 5 Marks is? DS was advised just to get 1 paper remarked in English Lit. It went up by 18 marks from a 6 to an 8. Good luck to your DD but I think you will have to decide...

Re: Physics GCSE 2 points away...worth a re-mark?

PS, I wonder if the marking error in English Lit has all been on the same paper? It was the paper with the unseen poetry that DS had remarked and gained 18 points.

Re: Physics GCSE 2 points away...worth a re-mark?

I know of another pupil whose Eng Lit jumped 20 points on review. The comment was 'overly harsh marking'. It is shocking My DD at same school has just had one Eng Lit (Eduqas) paper remarked and gained another 7 marks, plenty to go up a grade. I suspect the same marker. She is very happy and now fe...
