Re: Grammar School hearing

From sectionA8 in the appeals sticky : “ circumstances. See our guidance: Appealing for an oversubscribed school - stage one. (iii) Parents who've been through an unsuccessful review will have the opportunity to ask general questions about the review process (whether it was fair, consistent & ob...

Re: Grammar School hearing

Is this in Bucks, OP? For Bucks schools where there has been an unsuccessful SR I believe that the appeal happens at a single sitting but in two sections: the first section reviews whether the SR was not FCO. IF this is found to be the case the panel then consider the appeal on grounds of non-qualif...

Re: READING SCHOOL ALLOCATIONS 2024

Every year is different…. but it’s not just Reading, if you look in some of the other forum areas, other WLs seem slow to move this year too. Purely my speculation, but I wonder if current economics are meaning fewer parents are declining GS places to go to an independent offer? I’m sure some of the...

Re: Appeal advice please -flyhigh Slough

To try to be a little more positive: 1) No: you don’t have to appeal against non-qualification. Re: Appeal advice please -flyhigh Slough

I’m afraid to say your change in address will not likely “change your position considerably” though it will put your child further up the waiting list for LGS, it won’t for the schools where score based places are more of a priority (check individual school policies re waiting lists to be sure). As ...

Re: Appeal (under11), after unsuccessful selection review

I had to contact them last year about my DS and although I too got that same “10 day response” message (which panicked me no end!) they did get back to me within 24 hours. hopefully you’ll get a reply pretty soon.

Re: Inquiry on Boys Grammar Schools Without Catchment Requirements Or Late Move

Do you prefer a particular part of the country to live in? Have you thought about moving to an area near an excellent comprehensive, where your child will be top stream? a few examples of non Grammars (there are of course many) This is a non selective high achieving comprehensive school in Liphook H...

Re: Inquiry on Boys Grammar Schools Without Catchment Requirements Or Late Move

okay, sure. Grammar schools are not the only good/great schools in the United Kingdom: obviously to have ended up here you will have an interest in them! But if they are nowhere nearby, have a think about whether it is worth moving the family purely because of the possibility of a grammar schoolnpla...
