English assessment - Any ideas

My son is sitting for an Exam this Saturday and when i asked the school what the English part of the assessment will be the response i got was proof reading, filling in the Gaps which are multiple choice questions however i was told that "The only element of the Initial Assessment for English that is not multiple-choice. Candidates will be asked to complete a narrative (either fiction or non-fiction) requiring no prior knowledge of the topic. They will be marked on the originality of their response and the technical accuracy of their writing" and this narrative part is just 15 mins.
Any ideas or advice on what may be asked.
