CGP spelling and grammar books

Post by Azure »

I've been looking at the CGP website and am completely befuddled by the choice. Can anyone recommend particular grammar and spelling workbooks I can use with my DC?

I've got the same problem, so many books, I don't know which one would be the best.

They are good books but other publishers are also good. which one is determined by age, aptitude, what you are trying to prep for (11+? SATS? general improvement? ) and subject. I would go to a bookshop and browse first, bearing in mind that the whole range is not on the shelf.

Hi, I am aiming for general improvement and the 11+! I would really appreciate any advice from people who've used these books. Thank you. :)

I would go down the 11+ route initially then and to do that you need to say what schools you are thinking of. General improvement will ride on the coat tails of the 11+ prep IME.

Hi Silverysea, it's the Kent Test.

I would head on over to the Kent forum and look at what materials the experienced ones there are recommending- might be CGP, or others, also they will be up to date on planned changes if any for the year you are aiming for.

Read read read is my advice for anywhere. The library is your friend.

Yes, reading is very useful. Hence my question on CGP books and other peoples' experience of them.

You found Athey easier than Bond? And CGP easier than GL. My experience is the opposite. We used CGP Maths and English at the very end as we felt it was a harder version of GL. DG
