I would also like to see the response to this mystery. Infact, have been searching for more info on gl for the last two days to try and work out if Midlands use them or not...

Is GL the new name for NFER then?

What is the link between NFER and CEM?

Sorry if the answer is obvious, but it's not for me, yet!!

NFER Nelson has been GL Assessment for a while.

CEM stands for Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring and it's part of the University of Durham.

NFER still exists though - and they develop tests for test publishers. I don't really understand their relationship with GL assessment. I think that NFER is the "academic" bit which writes the tests, and GL Assessment is the commercial company that wins the contracts and publishes material devised by NFER (as well as from other test bodies as GL is much wider than just school tests).

Maybe NFER also writes the entrance tests for CEM !!
