How do you set out a letter?
Which is the correct way to set out a letter in an English 11+ paper?

I wasn't sure about denis denis's reply so I checked in my CGP Sats English book. It is 7 years old and CGP have been known to make the occasional mistake but they have :
Your address at right hand side slanting downwards with date beneath hopefully just next to edge of paper.
If it is formal letter, you then put on next line on left hand side the name and the address of the person with whom you are corresponding. You do not slant this.
Then Dear.....
Then RE: Whatever the issue is (underlined)
At end "Yours sincerely" if you've used the person's name in your Dear bit; otherwise "Yours faithfully" if you've just put sir or madam.
