English Preparation Approach

Dear All
Need some advice. Our daughter is in year 4 and aiming for Colchester Grammar.Few bits that we have already started:
Reading at least half an hour daily and finding new words to build vocabulary
Bond assessment comprehension papers age 8_9
Spellings practice
Writing a review of the book she has read.
I was browsing essex 11plus website and there were some recommendations to do certain books stated below
Bond no nonsense english
Rising star skills builder grammar and punctuation.
Please suggest what should be our approach to plan her studies in a consistent manner to prepare her for English.Is paired reading twice a week a good idea?
