English paper how many questions

My daughter failed the 11+ plus by 4 points on her English. On the day she was really full of cold and over the week before we were keeping the school updated on her progress. English is also her strong subject so we were miffed. We have letters showing she was ill. Is it worth chasing a place at weald. Her other score were really good. Also on calling the council she got 14 questions right. And answered them all. Does anyone know how many questions there was ?

In terms of, 'How many questions were there?', you might get more answers if you ask the mods to move your post to the area relevant to the exam your DD took - ?Kent - as 11+ exams are not 'universal'

With regard to the issue of your DD having been unwell on the day of the test, did you not have to sign something to indicate that she was well enough to take it? (Different schools / areas even ask parents to state that their DC is actually 'fit and well', others just that the child is 'well enough' to sit the exam)? Unfortunately, claiming illness affected achievement, when there was the option to defer sitting to a reserve date, isn't really a 'reason'. Obviously it is different where e.g. there is an ongoing condition which is unlikely to be resolved between exam sittings.

However, there is nothing to stop you naming your preferred grammar school on your DD's CAF and then appealing for a place after the inevitable rejection on March 1st. Presumably you did name the grammar school on her form? You can only appeal if you actually applied for a place and were not offered one.
