writing in the style of an author?

one of the requirements on the syllabus for comprehension is to "use the given text and write a paragraph in the style of an author" - how would you approach this requirement? We have not seen such question in our comprehension books/ resources. please help.

If that’s the case, read it carefully and pick out key points about the style. Try to use these in your own writing.

If it really is 'in the style of an author', rather than, 'in the style of the author...', that is, the author of the passage you have just read - and assuming that it is actually, 'in the style of named author x', rather than, 'in the style of someone whose job is to write things', then I would assume the author concerned would be someone whose works you had studied ?

Apologies for not totally serious post. But... you tell us nothing about this 'syllabus' - this is an 11+ forum, but every stage from EYFS to postgraduate degree level education is discussed on it and you will get better targeted help if you are a little more forthcoming with the details.

Without the given text and the question it is almost impossible for anyone to give you any more advice than you have already been given.

We can’t tell you how to approach a task if we don’t know what that task is.
