Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can give me ointers as to how to approach my dilema!

My Ds has been doing some past paper comprehensions and at first he was not answering the questions by using examples from the passage. So we made progress on that front to the point where he does now refer back to the passage but then he wasn't quoting examples from it! Over the past day or so we have seemed to crossed that barrier but he doesn't write enough for the higher mark questions and also he has taken to quoting examples from the passage and then putting the line number in brackets. Is this correct?

How can I advise him on how to answer questions properly and fully without destrying his confidence as that would totally negate all the work that we have done to date? Is there a method that we need to work to?

Please someone help!!!

Thanks
Coolmum

There is a really good series of books called Achieve level 5 in English.

Not too expensive (about £4 when I got mine)..

i referred to them on this thread
http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/ ... highlight=

They give pointers to what sort of an answer is expected and how to achieve that " little bit extra". May be worth looking at? My friend uses them with her year 6 class and gets really good results
