No, it will be calculated using the local authority's official system, which will be much more specific and accurate - it has to be.

Just ring Slough as soon as their information line opens (10am, I think, from the info I found on the website and posted a little upthread?) and ask if they will give you your official distance from the school(s) you are interested in.

I'm pretty sure that Reading is more than 4 miles from Herscel, though?

That's not terribly helpful assuming Slough uses straight line distance & Google maps doesn't.

I think you can use google maps for straight line distance but never tried it on an iPad.

You can. Right click on location or destination, select 'measure distance' and drag a straight line to the other end.

If so it's about 16 miles distance and not sure whether my DS will get a chance in Herschel and Upton

any one joined slough grammar schools this year who live in reading town center or any other area in reading...?

The issue for any predictions is the change of admission rules for Herschel- no one knows how that will affect that school or what the knock on will be on the others. Previous years are no longer as much of a guide for the future
