I think we've got one of the lowest scores on this thread... :( And I was so confident and hopeful, that Ive actually become complacent since ds2 took the Langley test. So we have about 3/4 weeks left, 'I think I'd better think it out again'

I must quickly look up everyone I know
if you have put Herschel grammar school as one of your choice then 115 is mostly enough, if you have not put herschel in CAF and if you want to add it now. then send request to your county in case if they may accept your new preferences. dont leave any chance but try all possibilities

Thanks Muvvalac and Chad.

herschel has changed its admission policy slightly....

i) Looked After Children who have reached the required standard;

(ii) pupils with special educational needs (where written evidence is supplied from a recognised authority specialising in the particular needs of the pupil) who have or in the view of Governors should have reached the required standard;

(iii) the next 70 pupils in rank order of performance in the tests;

(iv) proximity to the school. Distance will be measured in a straight line from the front door of the child’s home address (including flats) to the main entrance gate of the school, using Slough’s Geographical Information System (GIS), with those closer to the school receiving the higher priority.

...so this will affect the first round allocation this year.... we will have to wait to see how it pans out.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Even if the qualifying score for Herschel is lower, they will have less places to offer out of catchment.

Hi,

I just registered today on this forum.
My son has got a score of 121(NVR 132 and VR 110). Is this score good enough to get a place?

Welcome to the forum jv2010 and conratulations to your dc.

Historically a child with this score would be offered Langley in the first round.

Hello everyone,

Got the results today! My son secured an average score of 113 and passed! :) [117 NVR 108 VR] I know this is a very low score to get a place though :( But I have given Langley and Herschel both on CAF Hoping for the best! Congratulations and Best wishes to all!

Hi to all ,
congratulation to all who passed, I am really sorry for the ones that came very close, I hope things work out at the end come 1st march. We Are very pleased as my dd has passed with a score of 121(nvr 117 vr 124). I was surprised with her vr score as it is usually her strength. She scored 139 at non such and 141 in the bucks test. I can only assume that the Berkshire test must Have been easier,giving a higher average with a lower standard deviation, been an October born her raw scores have to be usually higher to cater for age standardisation. The Slough consortium is our 4th chioce, 5 done one to go.
