My local authority is increasing our school choices from 3 to 6 this year which is great news for me as I wanted to be able to put down as many grammar choices as possible. I am considering GS in Berks but am also looking at Bucks now, as I'm told schools such JHGS and BGS and Chesham and Sir William Borlase take out of county. Does anyone out there know whether they take from as far out as Ashford, Middlesex? Is there a quick way of finding out what the actual distance is so I can compare to those offered out of catchment this year.
Also any views on Bucks v Berks would be highly appreciated as this is my first time in this maze.

For Bucks schools you first have to get 121 on the 11 plus, and then the admission criteria applyx - if there were enough places you would get a place, however far away you lived.

Burnham Grammar usually goes to "all offered" and JHGS and some others did this year, although I think this is unusual. I don't know anything about Berks vs Bucks but others may do. It would be a pretty difficult journey from Ashford to any of the Bucks schools, but particularly JHGS, Chesham etc. There are lots of people on here who know a lot more about these things than I do, I just saw your post and thought it would be nice to answer!
