Reading Boys last minute advice please!

We are nearly there! Does anyone have advice on best practice in these last 10 days? Thought no work next week to keep DS's brain fresh but advice on this weekend? We cherry-picked some English exercises out of a GL paper this evening but he didn't do that well - he is sick to the back teeth of the whole thing so is it best just to forget about doing anything and give him a break and fingers crossed on the day?

Also does anyone have any tips for reminding him to READ THE QUESTIONS PROPERLY!! Bit of a problem in English, other subjects ok but English his big weakness so easy points lost.

Many thanks and good luck to all of those taking the test next week.

Hiya - my ds looked at me on Monday and said that he had had enough of test papers, so I put them away and we haven't done any since. We are still picking at bits of English and grammar, and I still have one or two English papers for him to do, but I think we will work through them together rather than doing under test conditions. Also I think he will be doing the Primary maths Challenge before next Friday, but I'm not so worried about maths.

My eldest daughter sat the Kendrick test 4 years ago and refused to do anything for the last fortnight - just said she had improved as far as she was going to by then and there was no point. It did work for her, so I am trying not to fret too much about ds :) I am also very aware that whereas she was (is) a "sail through blithely" person, ds is far more anxious, and I don't want to spend the last few days getting him worked up about it! So am really trying to step back and play it cool.

Good luck to your son :)

You are not alone! My DS is sick to death of the papers too and on the last attempt did fairly badly so I am leaving it. I don't really think there's anything we can do to change the outcome now so I think keeping him feeling positive and encouraged is the way forward (he's also a senstive thing!).

Good luck for Friday :)

Hi, my DS is sitting Reading on Friday too, and we are also trying to "play it cool" this week so as not to completely bamboozle him at the last minute..

Good Luck to everyone, it will be a relief come 1.15!
