I have unsuccessfully searched the berkshire forum for lowest required pass mark in the past for the Slough grammar schools for OOC children. Do you know approximately what score has been required in previous years?

From what I've understood, the tests are made up of 21-question type vr and nvr. Is this correct? Could the nvr questions be any type or are the specific question types to practice?

There isn't such a thing as OOC children in the Slough Consortium. Each school has its own oversubscription criteria..... you would need to look at the admission details for the schools that you are interested in. It is not helped with bothUpton and Herschel changing there criteria to include a 'local' criteria (a certain number of places allocated by distance after achieving 111).

I don't think I formulated myself very well. sorry.

What I meant was:
1) in Upton there are 100 places allocated without consideration to distance ie only picking the dc with the top scores no matter where in the uk they live. What score has here approx been required? Has it been close to 100%?
2) in Herschel they allocate top 70 scores a place no matter where they live. What score was required during the last years?

From what you mentioned, the rules may be changing. Do you know if this will be alredy for 2014 entry?

For my older children, I never thought of putting them through an extra test in a different county, but 2013 things changed and more ooc children are gaining places at grammar schools where we live. Since I work in Slough it might also be a viable option transportation wise.

Upton and Herschel both changed their criteria in the last couple of years, Langley also discouraged applications from outside their 'postcode' catchment. I don't think there are any more changes so far but admissions are reviewed yearly.

With the criteria changing we have no historical data on scores and offers.
Slough Grammar (Upton) now takes the first 100 on score and then 45 on pass mark and distance.

Before the change in criteria first round offers were around the 114/115, this means that of the applicants who put SGS on the CAF as their first choice, or possibly second choice (and did not reach the first offer score of their first choice) there were 145 that had between 114/115 and 141.
I would expect this to rise as there are now only 100 offered on score but obviously as you reach the higher scores there will be less applicants on each score.

It is possible that you could ask the admissions officer at the school what was the final cut off for last year (on score only criteria)... if you get an answer please let us know.
