Reading Boys vs Reading Blue Coat

Post by ambereen »

Anyone chosen Reading Blue Coat over Reading Boys? If so why ? Am curious if people think Blue Coat is more sporty, has more extra curricular (and so more rounded), less rough and tumble (since they also interview so can filter beyond a mere test) and less academic than the other? I am honestly trying to decide between them as looks DS may get into both in year 7 (from prep school). I have no pre-coneceptions about either as I don't know then very well.

I don't know anyone who has made that choice but Blue Coat certainly has great sporting facilities and grounds. Their own boat house on the river for rowing - that sort of thing. They get decent results but are aiming at more 'whole pupil' than just academic.

I personally know two families whose boys each sat and passed both, then chose Reading Blue Coat over Reading School.

(Wish I had had the money to do so.)
