Don't think it's advisable to post scores with last names like this in public forum!

We also got the result of some another girl to our address. I am shocked. How the exam organiser can send the result without proper checking and play with life of Children. If they can post the result to one child to another child's address, then what is the guarantee that the revised letter will show the correct marks belong to that girl only. I feel organiser must have sorted excel spreadsheet with improper knowledge of excel sorting method. They must have sorted by selecting only the name column leaving other column un-selected.

Hi,

Just saw this disclaimer on the Kendrick website -----

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates who sat the test at Kendrick School and have requested that their results are shared with the Slough Consortium will receive a separate letter produced by the Slough Consortium. We have been advised that there has been an error with the mail merge letters produced by Slough and correct letters are being resent by first class post within the next couple of days. This only affected candidates who sat the test at Kendrick School and requested the scores will shared with the Slough Consortium. Production of the Slough Consortium results letters was a separate exercise to the Kendrick School test results process and therefore Kendrick School’s database and results are not affected.

Anyone affected can report this to the information commissioner's office - this is the national number - 0303 123 1113. Anyone affected should do so - you can also contact Slough Borough Council to the individual responsible for data protection.

I absolutely agree with you. I am an Excel professional, and have seen many people doing such a mistake. They had to select the correct array/columns before sorting. It seems that they sorted names, and left the addresses and scores; If so the addresses and scores are left matched together and the names are messed in the spreadsheet. (I forgot to say that I've got the letter having the same problem!). If you ask me, the scores and addresses are matched and they need to match names only. I won't accept the new letter if they change the score that I have already received today.

I've got the same wrong letter! This is definitely a mistake in their data base. I do believe that they sorted the data by mistake. i.e. they selected the names and sorted them out only_ without selecting the whole array; As the result the addresses and scores left matched together and mismatched to the names. As an Excel specialist I have seen the other people making such a mistake. They had to select the correct and complete array. As the result, I believe that the names are messed in their database and the rest of data (incl. address and score) are correct. I will not accept any other score that they send me the other day. Furthermore, mail merge just reads the data from any database that you address.. It doesn't mess the data!

My DD and I are so upset: we too have received a letter addressed to someone else, sent to our address. The score within the letter is so low that I can't believe it is my DD's: she is expected to pass the eleven plus, but the score is way out of range for what we might reasonably have expected and would indicate a definite no-hope for either Slough or Kendrick.

I've read some posts saying the score might still be correct and others saying to disregard the score entirely. I don't know what to think and my DD is crying :(. I got home too late tonight to ring any of the schools.

RV,

Do not worry. This is a serious error by the authorities at such a crucial time when results are out in most of the counties and with parents waiting eagerly for the results of Kendrick and Slough. Even more anxiety for the children and we have been trying very hard to keep things sane at home.

We also received an incorrect letter with a lower score than what we were expecting for our DD as she had consistently been doing very well in her last few days of preparation. I would like to think (hoping hard!) of the possibility that they had first calculated the scores of each student and there was an error in the merge of mailing addresses, which means that our DD would receive better scores when we receive the correct post. Staying positive and not speculating is the best thing to do in this circumstance. One thing is for sure, will not accept a low score without proper explanation and strict action taken on this.

I have seen some suggestions already in the forum and have started exploring options on actions to be taken against this as this is serious at multiple levels. For all the efforts and sacrifices that parents and children would have gone through in the build up to this date, someone needs to Bell the cat!
