Woodley is newer so the houses may be easier to live in. The same with the Cooks built ones just over the border into Wokingham at the 3 Tuns. There was a new development of townhouses, in an old style, on Addington which has communal garden at the front - maybe more for little ones though.
Bulmershe Road has had a couple of street parties, New Road has had a few more (but the parking there is scary!).
Unfortunately the prices mean that there aren't so many young families, which is often what seems to drive communities, in some of the nicer (IMHO) roads. There is a WhiteKnights arts trail which is a nice community event - they have a website.
