My son received average standardized score of 128. The email says that this year the range of average standardized score is 69 to 136. Does anyone understand what this means? Does it mean that the highest standardized score possible is 136?

I think it means those are the maximum and minimum scores candidates have received this year.

It sounds about right.
Typically the highest mark is 141, lowest is 69, however the mark is an average of scores form different bits of the test, so you'd need to score 141 on each one to get the maximum 141 overall.

The final score is arrived at as a two step process:

1. First they standardise the scores for each of the 3 sections i.e. Verbal, Maths and Non-verbal
2. Second they derive the weighted overall score as 50% Verbal + 30% Maths + 20% Non-verbal

The range mentioned is basically the highest and lowest scores this year. Last year the range was much wider: 28 - 165

I'm awaiting the Reading results, also to be shared with Slough. So I don't know until next week. My son also did the bucks test and scored over 121 and his friend also scored over 121. So it seems this standardising business is mighty confusing. In line with what I have read I fully expect his result to come down, probably quite a lot. Just how much is the question. This waiting game is becoming a little bit much now (for me, not him!!)

Please do not post scores over 121 for Bucks. 121 is the qualifying score and scores higher are irrelevant for Bucks schools. - Moderator

The standardisation for Bucks is completely different. As are the cohorts taking the test.

In addition, a DC could have an off day for one test and completely storm another.

Results are being posted on Monday so hopefully you will know soon.

Does anyone know how many children have written the 11+ exam for slough consortium in 2015 or 2014?

Hi, sorry if I sound a little crazy but wanted to ask if the Slough exam n reading exam were the same? Cos while reading the posts I hv come across Kendrick parents saying their DDs found exam easy while Slough results hv been quite shocking.....

Yes its the same exam but standardised for the different cohorts.

There is no such thing as an easy exam - the children only say that because they are familiar with the format by the time they sit the real thing!
