Slough selection review?

Does Slough have a selection review process for those that didn't qualify or can you only appeal in march?

I've searched the site but can't see anything

it looks to me as though it is appeals after the allocations in March. Not all areas have reviews and some have them held before the results come out

Hi Jade: the Berkshire is opt-in (not automatic) - so There isn't a review option as far as I know: just a standard Appeals option which is referred to on the consortium website.

Have you checked the Appeals section here and searched for Slough related appeals? Bear in mind the system changed to CEM a few years ago so info older than 2014 may not reflect what happens now, but anything newer will be under the current system.

If you do want to appeal make sure you put the grammars you wanted in genuine order of preference as places 1/2/3 then put your backup non-selective schools (at least two) underneath. You can only appeal to a school you have named on the CAF and been unsuccessful for. It will NOT stop you getting a comp place if its lower on the form, and you must put the grammars higher (which will get an immediate "no", but then they skip to the next school On the form and this enables you the later appeal).

Actually, it doesn't matter where you put the grammar schools if it is a case of not having qualified in the first place, but yes. It does look a bit odd if you are appealing for a school you apparently weren't as keen on as the one you got. People do do it, though (sometimes just because they have had a late change of mind about preferences. And sometimes because someone persuades them that the school they originally placed low on their CAF e.g. because the journey is awful is so much more desirable than the one they were allocated, even if that school was the one they originally said that they wanted ).

Where it definitely can matter is when you got a low but 'pass' score, because you normally go on the waiting list automatically for schools above your allocated school. So you can hope that a waiting list place will come up before you actually get to the appeal. Although in some (?all) areas, you can also (re)apply as a late application.
