Hi there

Does the Maths paper for Reading Boys School take into account BODMAS, or do candidates work from left to right.

As they state in their admins guide, that 'No additional Practise is required', we went with the left to right method, as this is what is taught in Primary schools.

But Steve may advise differently.

Hopefully he should be along soon... :D

Agree with Bewildered. If you are thinking about such things then your boy is probably well prepared. :)

We made the mistake of over preparing for maths believing it might be as tough as reported in other areas and offered the choice most boys will always choose to do a maths paper. Next time round (soon) I will be the boss tutor and choose the papers.

Feedback from the last few years is that the maths is the easiest of the papers, it is their own paper. Looking at the results ( 123 boys out of 124 A/A* at GCSE ) they do not need to be selective on maths. The maths in year seven makes up for it within the second week topics extended to cover both KS3 & GCSE

The English and Reasoning (NVR or VR) are more challenging not in difficulty but more timing.

But as ever they could move the invisible goal posts , as "no further information will be given"

Good luck.
