Hiya guys, I thought I would start a general transport thread on how our kids get to the various Slough Consortium schools, as well as helpful advice or suggestions.
I have a DD at St Bernards, she has a child's zip 11-15 photo oyster card for catching the 81 bus. The photo card cost me £15 which was for the administration fees. So long as she has some credit on her card (for catching the tube within London) the bus is free.
She has only lost it once and I had to go to Hounslow bus station to get it.
Sometimes the buses are delayed in which case it takes her around 25 mins to walk to school, though she does walk quickly.
She also has some emergency funds in case the weather is really bad and she wants to catch a First bus (the bus stop heading back into Slough has no shelter).

I know this thread is old but is anyone else starting to think about their DC's journey to one of the Slough schools? Bus from Uxbridge is what I'm thinking. The thought of setting up my own company and training as a minibus driver, picking up/ dropping off door to door did cross my mind for 30 seconds as a few families I know have got a space on the already oversubscribed with long waiting list coach/minibus option.
