Hi There,
I was wondering if there was any point if putting Reading Boys school on the CAF if you live outside the designated post code areas? Does anyone know if such boys have been successful in obtaining places in the past?

The results are due next week and I am confident that my son has done well and was wondering ........

Thanks so much for your help!

I am sorry to say that no, there really isn't any point on putting it on your CAF form. There are many boys who pass and live in the designated area than there are spaces.

Unless you want to apply for a boarding place.
They haven't offered outside catchment since it was introduced

You can't apply for both a boarding and day school place though "just in case". It's one or the other.

And the other posters are correct, they don't go outside of catchment.

And they also don’t allow you to ‘convert’ from a boarding place to a day place later.

Agreed. Apparently one boy tried to do that and they wouldn't allow him. In the end he had to leave the school!
